26.04.24 – Update on POD Prescription service

From Monday April 29th 2024, the POD (Prescription Ordering Direct) Service will no longer be available for Westbury patients to order their repeat medication. From this date all prescription requests will be processed by the prescriptions team at the surgery. The prescription team consists of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Prescription Clerks and our aim is to provide a safe, prompt, and efficient service.

For safety reasons, we will not routinely accept requests for repeat prescriptions over the phone.  If there are no issues with your request, we aim to send a prescription to your nominated pharmacy within 72 hours (this does not include weekends or Bank Holidays).

Please use the following options to order your medication:

  • NHS App, Airmid App, SystmConnect (available soon). For more information and instructions on setting up the NHS App go to uk/nhsapp.
  • Email: bswicb.wgpprescriptions@nhs.net
  • In Person: Paper requests can be put in our prescriptions box at the foyer of the White Horse Health Centre or handed in to Bratton Surgery. Please ensure you complete a request form if you do not have the repeat slip.
  • Local Chemists: Preddys and Boots will accept paper requests (please allow an additional two days to allow for processing).
  • Via Post: for the attention of the prescriptions team to: White Horse Health Centre, Mane Way, Westbury, BA13 3FQ

To prevent delays, please include all of the following information when ordering:

  • Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Address
  • Preferred contact details (telephone/email/text)
  • Medications required – please only order what you need

Thank you

13.02.24 – Update on POD Prescription service:

We would like to inform you about an important change regarding the Prescriptions Ordering Direct (POD) system that we have been using. This system will come to an end and cease operations at the end of June, possibly before. We want to clarify that this decision was not made by Westbury Group Practice, but rather a regional NHS decision that will affect all practices in Bath, Northeast Somerset, Swindon, and Wiltshire.
To ensure a smooth transition, we recommend that you download the NHS app, where you can conveniently request repeat prescriptions at any time that suits you. Additionally, you will have the option to choose a pharmacy that is most convenient for you. For more information and support, please visit NHS App help and support – https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/nhs-app-help-and-support/
We understand that some patients may prefer traditional methods, and for this reason, we will be accepting paper requests again. We have also reinstated the use of our repeat prescription box in the front lobby of the practice. We are currently not taking medication requests over the phone.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this transition period. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone, or by using this email address: bswicb.wgpprescriptions@nhs.net

=================================================================================================================

We have introduced Prescription Ordering Direct (POD) for our patients, providing an easy way to order repeat prescriptions that will also help to reduce the £2.7 million wasted on unused medication in Wiltshire each year. You can call and request your prescription from the comfort of your own home, removing the need to go in to your GP Surgery or Pharmacy.
Call 0333 332 0050 to speak to the POD, they're open weekdays, 09:00 to 17:00. Requests can still be made via online services.
