New weight-loss treatment on the NHS - what's happening locally?

Weight Loss Injections - Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) – What’s Happening Locally

You might have heard that a new medication called tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) has been approved by the NHS to help with weight loss for some people living with obesity.

Although national guidance now supports its use as part of a weight management programme, most GP surgeries – including ours – aren’t yet able to prescribe it.

This is because local NHS services are still working on the right setup and support needed to safely offer this treatment.

We know this may be frustrating if you were hoping to try it, and we really appreciate your patience. We’ll share any updates as soon as things change.

In the meantime, please don’t contact the GP practice for a prescription as we won’t be able to do it.

Please see the latest guidance on eligibility for the Mounjaro weight-loss injection. This is provided by the Bath, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) Integrated Care Board (ICB).
