Patient Participation Group

The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a great way to have your say and represent patients within Westbury Group Practice.

The PPG are a group of patients who meet up every three months. They get together to discuss and provide feedback on services they receive from us. The group of patients also help us to spread the word about the changes coming to the surgery and make sure patients are involved in important decisions.

Your local surgery needs you!

We are always looking for enthusiastic and willing patients to give us feedback.

If you would like to join the PPG or the next meeting, please complete the form below and a member of the PPG will get back to you as soon as possible.

The information below will help to make sure that we receive feedback from a representative sample of the patients registered at this practice.
How would you describe how often you come to the practice?

At Westbury Group Practice we are committed to providing an outstanding service to our patients for every interaction they have with us. We are launching a new system called “You said, we did” where we take your feedback, and show how we have listened to and acted upon it

We hope this model of engagement shows you as the patient, you really can make a difference in your surgery, and your healthcare.

You said We did
Your phone lines are always engaged, I can’t get through It’s important that our patients can reach us when they need to. We have launched an online consultation method called e-Consult, which allows you to skip the phone queue and send us a form with your symptoms and requirements, this is then triaged by our team and passed on to the appropriate clinician.

For those that are unable to, or not wishing to use our e-Consult service, we have installed additional phone lines to help us meet the ever increasing demands on GP surgeries around the country.

Information on how the practice operated with home visits was not clear or transparent to us patients We wrote a piece for the website and Facebook page to explain how our visiting team works.
Blood tests for patients at home had not been arranged quick enough We agree all blood tests for home visited patients should be requested the same day to ensure blood tests are carried out in a timely manner.
Medical notes were not clear when processing urine dips for other clinicians We discussed this as a practice and changed the process to ensure medical notes entered were very clear so the clinician dealing with the sample knows what to do

Who? – The Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of volunteers that vary in terms of age and experience. Our aim is to make sure that we, the patients of Westbury Group Practice, get the most from the service.

What? – The Westbury PPG was formed in 1998. We have a full membership group of approximately twenty-five patients. A sub-group of six to ten is elected from within that membership. We meet regularly at the White Horse Health Centre to discuss the practice and the services it offers.

Why? – Westbury Group Practice has a vast array of services available and is growing fast. It’s innovation in the area of mental healthcare has been a benchmark to other Surgeries. There is a lot to be proud of, but there is still much to do. We want to help you to understand the services that you can access and we want you to give your input into the running of the practice. We are fully supported by everyone at the Practice and meet with them to make sure that we all understand the direction, issues and concerns facing the practice.

When? – The full group meets four times a year at the White Horse Health Centre. All meetings start at 18:30 unless stated otherwise. They are often attended by one GP, the Managing Partner and the Patient Communication Lead. Meetings are open and informal with all members being encouraged to participate.

How? – Should you wish to find out more about the PPG please ask a member of the reception team for a PPG Information Booklet. Membership of the PPG is open to all patients registered at Westbury Group Practice, we always welcome new members and look forward to new ideas!
